The upper of two geodesic domes on a 20-acre mountainside 2.5 miles from downtown Blowing Rock. A king bed sits under a transparent roof made for stargazing; your own hot tub waits on a private deck with a view that runs 100 miles across the Blue Ridge.
A fire table, a hammock, a grill and outdoor seating fill the deck between the trees. Inside, a kitchenette with a French press, kettle and grilling tools, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a heated bathhouse with a flushing toilet, hot water and a shower.
The dome has heating, cooling, space heaters and electric blankets, but it is a dome, not an insulated house: in the cold months bring layers. The GeoDome is reachable by front-wheel, all-wheel or four-wheel drive; in winter weather everyone parks at the top and walks 350 to 450 feet down.
The TreePod is a few hundred feet away at a lower elevation. Book both for two couples. The Grand Cabin and the Tiny Cabin share the same 20 acres, with private trails and a stocked pond.
