Built more than a century ago by the caretaker of the Cone family apple orchard, and later gifted to him, this cabin sits on 20 acres of mountain land 2.5 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock, with 100-mile views from most rooms.
The updates keep the character: tongue-and-groove spruce walls, a stone fireplace in the living room, and a primary suite with a king bed, a private balcony and a view over Blackberry Gorge that reaches Charlotte on a clear day.
The main level sleeps nine: a king in the primary, a queen in the second bedroom, three twins and a convertible sofa. The lower level is separate, entered from the deck, with its own queen bedroom, living area and sofa bed. Two families, two levels, one view.
Upstairs the kids get the Clubhouse loft: sleeping cubbies, a queen bed and games. The 700 square foot deck has egg chairs, a gas fire pit, Adirondack chairs and a grill, and the hot tub faces the mountains. The property also holds the Tiny Cabin and the two domes; book the Grand Cabin and the Tiny Cabin together for a group of 16.

How many people does the Grand Cabin sleep?
Up to 12 across the main level, the lower level and the kids' loft, in 3 bedrooms with 8 beds and 3 bathrooms. With the Tiny Cabin added, 16.
Is the lower level separate?
Yes. It has its own entrance from the deck, a queen bedroom, a living area with a sofa bed and a bathroom. Grandparents or a second family usually take it.
How far is Blowing Rock?
2.5 miles to Main Street, about five minutes. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 5 miles and Boone is 12.
